KENNEDY STREET

PASIG
A mix of old and new, this 780-square meter lot is a modern recreation of the traditional Japanese ryokan. Framing the entrance are glass panels anchored by wooden posts and concealed by thinly cut onyx stones, which allow light to radiate out at night; resembling the impression of Japanese shoji screens. To complement this, glass awnings are positioned to serve as a protection against tropical elements and soaring brown steel piers utilized to anchor the eaves and accent against the horizontal elements.
Favorably sitting on a northeast facing lot, users are able to live comfortably within despite the tropical heat. Transparent glass curtains flood the interior with natural lighting, enhancing the interior spaces throughout the day. The amalgamation between the inverted L footprint and landscape complements the Japanese motif while establishing privacy against its surroundings.
