DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY -DASMARINAS:
COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,
ARCHITECTURE
AND TECHNOLOGY
DASMARINAS, CAVITE
Given Ar. Anthony Nazareno’s status as a DLSU alumnus, the offer to design the university’s latest interaction of their College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology seemed like a dream project: one that he hoped could inspire the students who would walk its halls, and eventually join him in his own profession as colleagues.
The building itself was designed as a true creative exploration of contrasts through architecture. The clear cadence of the grey-toned facade heavily contrasts against the multi-faceted, double volume wooden entrance canopy, its shapes at once chaotic yet coherent. The entrance and approach was also essential, with the college’s sloped approach and main entrance canopy with no doors allowing for dramatic yet inviting access for its many students. Finally, the seven-floor interior staircase mirrors the purposeful disorganization of the building’s entrance: each staircase was offset at a different facet, allowing for the feeling of movement along that single vertical spine.
