RESIDENTIAL INTERIORS

CASA SAN GREGORIO

Given the client’s reputation as a prolific collector of art— from significant works from the old masters, to towering sculptures, to vintage furniture— the main challenge in designing Casa San Gregorio’s interiors was finding means to house this vast collection. Most of the furniture used for the home came from the client’s pre-existing collection, so it was up to Anthony Nazareno to find new pieces that could marry the home owner’s eclectic artistic taste with his new home’s modern sensibilities. Through turning a corner or entering a doorway into a new space, Casa San Gregorio’s volumetric architecture allows for elements of surprise, with the reveal of a new painting or sculpture acting as its own reward. The double height volume family room on the second floor of the home acts as another such reward in its surprising verticality, filling the space with generous natural light that its user can bask in, and creating wall space that can accommodate larger artworks.
