RESIDENTIAL
CASA NUEVE
PASIG, MANILA
This residence in the heart of Pasig City exudes a quiet, imposing strength through its curated material palette and volumetric approach. Casa Nueve’s exteriors are clad in a combination of coarsed black marble and outdoor timber panels, a dramatic yet playful contrast that allows for light and shadow to dance across its surface both day and night. Its balcony railings are lined in expanded metal, a prefabricated industrial material that Anthony Nazareno had deliberately chosen as a means of bringing this familiar, seemingly conventional product to such an imposing, bespoke home.
Horizontality was another aspect imperative to Anthony and his team for this project: lengthy balconies at the front and rear of the home are coupled with cantilevered canopies to created ample shade for rest and relaxation amidst an urban fabric. The second floor facade also features multiple deep-set windows, a particularly striking detail when viewed at night. Casa Nueve was also designed with entertaining in mind, given the coupled clients’ nature as restaurateurs. Upon entry, guests and residents are immediately greeted to the living room, which features a double volume ceiling and skylight, allowing natural light to gently cascade onto this central area of the home
