RESIDENTIAL
CALLE SISON
RESIDENCE
URDANETA, PANGASINAN
One of the key design features of the house is the custom design timber brise soleil, which serves a variety of functions: the vertical slats reduce interior heat gain, provides a noise buffer, and acts a security grill for the house. As the home is situated along a busy road in the countryside, a large setback was designed to create privacy for the owners. This allowed for the creation of a front yard, also designed by NGDC, dotted with sparse yet serene compositions of boulders and wild grass, as Arch. Nazareno was inspired by landscape views of the surrounding northern Luzon provinces. The timber brise soleil complementing the lined concrete forms create a veil of visual porosity throughout this residence. With context and materiality as the defining key features, the Calle Sison Residence creates a striking contemporary space.
